Susanne Glaser – Space Geodetic Techniques for Earth System Observation

November 19 @ 16:00 - 17:00

CESOC continues the seminar series “My Research” this Winter term 2024/25 with a series of talks given by scientists from University of Bonn, University of Cologne and Research Centre Jülich.

This semester, we are excited to announce that the seminar series will be in a hybrid format and hosted by the different CESOC partners  and it will also be streamed online (via zoom). The seminars will take place on Tuesdays on a bi-weekly basis at 16:00 hr.

on Tuesday, 19 Nov. 2024 at 16:00 (CST)

Prof. Susanne Glaser

from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation, University of Bonn, talking on their work

“Space Geodetic Techniques for Earth System Observation”

Location: Lecture Hall 4.001 (4th floor), Pohligstr. 3, 50969 Cologne and Online

It is open to any interested person within the CESOC research disciplines (any Earth system sciences, mathematics or computer science).

Abstract:
Different space geodetic techniques are combined to determine highly accurate and long-term stable global geodetic reference frames which serve as indispensable absolute basis for the relative only geodetic measurements. Currently achieved accuracies of the global reference frames do not meet the requirements to reliable monitor global processes like the global sea level rise. This presentation will cover two main research fields of different combination strategies and technological developments of the space geodetic techniques to improve the current situation towards an highly accurate Earth system observation.
