June 21, 2024: Significant milestone celebration with the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the new campus of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Bonn.
The event marked the commencement of the construction with attendance of several distinguished guests including Dr. Volker Wissing, the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport (BMDV), Katja Dörner, Mayor of the Federal City of Bonn, Petra Wesseler, President of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR), Dr. Christoph Krupp, Spokesman of the Board of Management of the Federal Institute for Real Estate (BImA), Nathanael Liminski, Minister for European Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Dr. Florence Rabier, ECMWF’s own Director General.
The directors’ board of CESOC attended the event that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for ECMWF in Bonn which is promising for further collaboration.
