Centre for Earth System Observation and Computational Analysis

Members & Network

Connecting researchers across disciplines to advance Earth system science through collaboration and exchange.

CESOC thrives through the engagement of its members. Scientists from the University of Bonn, the University of Cologne, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and partner institutes are warmly invited to become part of our community. Membership is a gateway to active participation in CESOC’s collaborative network, spanning research and education. It offers opportunities to join or even initiate working groups, ranging from reanalysis and machine learning to emerging fields such as energy meteorology and Earth observation systems. Ideas from members are strongly encouraged, shaping CESOC from the bottom up. If you are based at one of the partner institutions, you can become a member via a simple registration form. If you are from outside the region but would like to stay connected, you are welcome to subscribe to our mailing list to receive updates on CESOC’s activities.

Membership also comes with important responsibilities. According to the CESOC statute, members are invited to actively participate in activities, contribute to scientific initiatives, and make use of CESOC’s resources in line with the principles of good scientific practice. Each year, the Members’ Assembly brings the community together to review progress, present scientific highlights, and plan future activities. The Assembly also elects the Directors’ Board, discusses strategic directions, and decides on new working groups or statute changes. Membership is managed formally through registration and approval by the Directors’ Board, ensuring transparency and enabling targeted communication through dedicated mailing lists.
